It depends on what kind of movements you are doing.


The pedometer's 3D technology detects up and down movement. As long as your steps make the pedometer go up and down, the pedometer will count them.


Sample situations in which no steps will be counted:

  1. Walking in place while the pedometer is clipped to your waistband - note that when you lift one leg, the other leg keeps you at a constant height. The pedometer never moves up and down.
  2. Deep lunges that you hold for a long time - as you lunge forward, the pedometer slowly descends but if you do not rise right after descending, there is no down and up movement that would count as a step.
  3. Moonwalking - when done correctly, the pedometer will not move down and up, but you will get a great workout!

Typically, the way your body generates up and down motion is when stepping forwards, backwards or sideways.
